Ice cream is a common sweet treat liked by many people. But, there are two close ice cream shops near me, Bidinger’s Ice Cream and Dairy Queen. Bidinger’s is a local business, and Dairy Queen is a national ice cream business.   Both shops have a great selection of ice cream, but what would you rather?

Bidinger’s Ice cream has been in Wadsworth, Ohio for about 44 years. It has traveled through many family members, but right now Dave Bidinger is the owner. This ice cream shop wins several awards every year for their homemade ice cream. Within Bidinger’s menu they have sundaes, hard dip cones, soft serve cones, milkshakes, flurries, slushies, slush floats, and other delicious choices. The main seller of the ice cream shop is their soft serve ice cream cones. They have chocolate, vanilla, twist, strawberry, strawberry and vanilla twist, and lastly they have special flavors every week.

“I love the special flavors, it is unlike any other ice cream shop around” said Marty O’Connor. This shop is so popular most days there are lines to the street. Not just the ice cream tops this place, but also the prices are reasonable for the quantity. This locally owned ice cream shop can have some competition with The Dairy Queen located nearby.

Dairy Queen has food, and ice cream choices. Many customers there only for DQ blizzards. These are cups of ice cream with sauces, and candies mixed inside. Although they are very tasty, the blizzards can be very pricey.

“I don’t go to Dairy Queen a lot, because the line is always long, and it is expensive.” said tenth grader Macy Mellon.

After taking a survey most students prefer to go to Bidinger’s ice cream shop, because they provide the same thing, but cheaper.

“I feel like most students would rather having an ice cream cone, or milkshake from Bids, instead of a blizzard for DQ.” explained Rachel Robinson.

In the end both shops are a great place to go, but Bidinger’s has the better menu, location, and prices. But, what would you rather?
