Many sports lovers will most always have an opinion on which brand they prefer to show off. The three main athletic apparel brands that minor athletes, and even professional athletes represent are Under Armor, Nike, and Adidas. Although all three of these brands are extremely popular and successful, the two that are the most prosperous are Nike, established and founded in 1964, and Adidas, founded and established in 1948. The real question is which one is most favored by a varying crowd? I did some research and according to numbers, Nike is being purchased the most. As claimed by Forbes, a global media company focusing on business and economy, Nike commands 62% of the U.S. athletic footwear market. Adidas is still a booming business, but stocks have gone down in the past three years due to professional athletes injuries that occured while wearing Adidas shoes.
Nike shoes tend to sell more but what is the reason for that? The amount of networking that their company does is more significant than Adidas. For example, their commercials will include star celebrities and attract the viewers’ attention.
“The one commercial that Nike did that I’ll never forget is the one about the Cleveland Cavaliers winning the NBA finals and I do believe that many Northeast-Ohioans got a little emotional watching it.” Says Eric Hess when asked which commercial he liked the best.
Nike is far more popular in the US than Adidas because Adidas was founded in Europe, while Nike was founded in America. Many kids, teens, and even adults wear Nike apparel and a lot of people follow the trend. While Nike apparel is more for running and basketball, Adidas is more for tennis and soccer.
“To me, Nike shoes look sportier, even the shoes that are just casual. I think the Nike swoosh symbol looks better than the Adidas three stripes logo.” Says Emma Larj when asked which brand she prefered.
In conclusion, more people enjoy the Nike brand, but Adidas is a close second. The amount of success that Nike has had in the past 55 years is more significant that Adidas has had in the past 71 years. Try them out for yourself and decide which brand you would rather wear.
