For those who like to watch T.V., Netflix or Hulu?

By Alexis Berentz-

The way people watch shows has changed a lot over the years. Many people just stream their favorite shows on our computers. Netflix and Hulu are two of the most popular video streaming sites on the World Wide Web. They are both alike and different in many ways, and their differences have divided people into team Netflix or team Hulu. Which is better? There’s only one way to find out.

Netflix and Hulu are similar in the way that they both provide viewers with a variety of entertainment.

“If one has a smartphone, tablet, iPad, game console, or computer, one can view either Hulu or Netflix.” says netflix user, Steve Berentz.

They both provide movies and TV shows for all ages. Some people even cancel their cable subscriptions because it makes no sense to pay a lot of money for cable when they can just pay $7.99 a month for unlimited movies and TV series. Both sites are extremely affordable and customers can cancel their subscription anytime they want.

There are many differences between the two video streaming sites. First, Netflix has a larger archive. It has many older movies from as far back as the 1950’s as well as present day movies. Also Netflix has a children’s section called Netflix for kids, so kids can watch their TV shows and cartoons. That is a main reason why people and children love Netflix so much. Hulu doesn’t have a large movie archive, but they do have more of the new TV series. Let’s say a viewer missed Once Upon a Time last night and he or she needs to catch up on it; Hulu will have the episode up the day after it airs. It is very convenient that viewers do not have to wait a long time to catch up on their show.

For Netflix, they don’t put up episodes the day after they come out, but they will put the whole season up after the season is over. One advantage that Netflix has over Hulu is that they do not have commercials during the episodes users watch. Netflix also has many of their own original series, so that’s another advantage they have over Hulu. Netflix also features shows from every network on television, while Hulu only features shows from NBC, FOX, and ABC networks. Netflix and Hulu are both easy and fun to watch on long road trips or on a rainy day.

“Personally, I prefer Netflix because it has a vast variety of TV shows, movies and documentaries.” says junior, Chase Rodgers.

To sum up, the similarities and the differences mentioned above about Netflix and Hulu provide qualities for one to think about when considering which video streaming site is the best. On a poll of 120 students, 82 prefered Netflix, while the other 38 disagreed and said Hulu. Both are well affordable and great for anyone who loves to binge watch shows or movies.
